Food and Nutrition Curriculum Intent

• At Hathaway Academy, Food Preparation and Nutrition provides in depth learning of scientific, practical and analytical aspects of the subject. The subject’s focus is understanding the working characteristics, functions, chemicals of ingredients and theories of nutrition.

• The intent of the curriculum is:

• To enable all students to develop knowledge and skills to achieve their potential

• To create an enabling environment for all students to explore the social, cultural, moral and environmental issues relating to Food preparation and Nutrition

• To extend opportunities for all students to develop their understanding of how to research and investigate ideas related to Food preparation and nutrition
